It’s official! Manchester United have agreed a deal with Cardiff City over the transfer of Aaron Ramsey, making the Welshman the first signing for Alex Ferguson’s Champions League and Premier League winning squad. As part of the deal, Ramsey will be loaned back to Cardiff next season, where he will gain more match practise in the Championship, before starting to challenge for a first-team spot at the Red Devils. Man Utd had a bid of £4.5 million bid accepted. Cardiff were going to hold out for £5 million but decided against it after the clause of loan-back was inserted in the deal.
Liverpool’s bid was very similar to that of Man Utd, but it was Ferguson who moved first, and the relationship with Cardiff also helped in accepting the bid from the Red Devils. All that is left now is that Ramsey passes a medical and agrees personal terms with the club. Last season, Ramsey made 22 appearances for Cardiff City and a substitute appearance in the Final of the FA Cup.
The official statement on ManUtd.com said:
“Manchester United is delighted to announce it has agreed terms with Cardiff City for the transfer of Aaron Ramsey subject to terms being agreed and the player passing a medical.”
