Gardner Gone

Hull City today completed the signing of English defender Anthony Gardner. The defender made 114 appearences for Tottenham Hotspur, scoring 2 goals.

The £2.5mil spent on Gardner by Hull means he becomes their record signing. The 27 had been on loan at the tigers and wasn’t expected to make a permanent move until January. However he has signed a 3 year contract and will be in the squad for Saturday’s game against Fulham.

Gardner had been at Spurs since 2000, joining from Port Vale. He spent 8 years at White Hart Lane.

I would like to take this oppurtunity to thank Anthony for the time he spent at the lane. He might have not been a world-beater, might have not been an illustrious player but he gave it a 100% in every Tottenham game.

His ability might have sometimes been questioned but his loyalty and commitment were not. He spent 8 years coming off the Spurs bench, or covering injured players but he never complained. His passion will be sorely missed. Cheers ‘TG’.
