Rangers have signed Stoke striker James Beattie for an undisclosed fee on a 2-year-deal.

The 32-year-old is the first new signing at Ibrox since Maurice Edu joined the club over 2 years ago. Beattie was out of favour at Stoke City after a bust-up with manager Tony Pullis. The former England international burst on to the scene with Southampton and was rewarded with a move to Goodison Park. A spell with Sheffield United brought Beattie back into the reckoning and Stoke brought him to the Britannia Stadium in January 2009.
Beattie will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s SPL opener with Kilmarnock.
