Not many people take note of the football league especially League 2, however I take note of the Football League and all I can say is that, League 2 could be as closer than ever this season. One club though has stood out for me so far this season, it’s not Notts County, its not leaders Bournemouth but it is Aldershot Town.
Aldershot went out of business in March 1992; however that didn’t stop them making a new club called Aldershot Town. Aldershot Town have been through a rocky ride to get this far into the Football league, after surpassing the Isthmian League, and all of the Conference leagues. Last season though was Aldershot’s year as they were promoted into the Football League. In 08/09 The Shots finished in a mid-table 15th place. This season has been a whole lot different; they have started League 2 with a flourish, as they currently sit in 5th place in the League 2 ladder. The Aldershot Town fans will be surely packing the Recreation Ground, as their club is on hot form and looking in good shape as they come up to the busy December period.

Aldershot Town manager Gary Waddock is the real one to thank, for all this success with The Shots so far this season. Waddock started out with Aldershot in 2007, as he was the manager which guided the club to promotion into The Football League. Waddock also managed the club last season to a decent 15th place. In 09/10 he has taken the club on a massive run, a massive lift into the play-off places of the fourth tier of English Football. Everybody at Aldershot Town will surely be happy with what Gary Waddock is doing with the club.

Focusing on the impressive results which have made Aldershot Town one of the forces in League 2 this season, only yesterday Aldershot demolished Morecombe 4-1 as an impressive Marvin Morgan guided them to victory. Thinking back to the first day of the season, like in 08/09 The Shots got themselves off to a perfect start, as they overcame Darlington 3-1.
Aldershot also added an impressive away win this season, as they defeated Grimsby Town 2-1 thanks to a double from Scott Donnelly. Two other impressive results came against two relegated teams, who fell from League 1 at the end of last season. Firstly Aldershot defeated Crewe 2-1 away from home thanks to goals from, Scott Donnelly and Kirk Hudson. Also a week after the Crewe win they thrashed Cheltenham Town 4-1. Marvin Morgan and defender Anthony Charles were among the goalscorers that day. The only problem for Aldershot Town seems to be their consistency as they seem to draw quite a few games. Also their away form hasn’t been the best aswell.
If you don’t know much about Aldershot Town here is their squad list for the 09/10 season…
