It has been a jubilant time on the South Coast this week for one side, Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth have started the 2010/11 season in true fashion. The “Cherries” are currently 7th in Npower League 1, with the table showing that they are only two points off top spot. With little money and a little known quantity in the name of Eddie Howe, over the past couple of years it has been a memorable story for Bournemouth football club.
The squad as a whole has taken a giant leap forward; season 2008-2009 was a depressing time for the Bournemouth faithful like South Coast neighbours Portsmouth the teams future in the football league looked uncertain. One man changed all that for the better, former player Eddie Howe took over the reign at Dean Court as instant success was permanently granted. Only 32 years of age, Howe secured promotion to League 1 in his first full season in charge, the 09/10 campaign was also difficult on the field, most matches Bournemouth struggled to name 18 players on their team sheet; however the “Cherries” are a great example of commitment and passion, even with a points deduction looming over their heads they showed that hard work and promotion can be done, even with a number of problems evolving inside the club.

Bournemouth have started life in League 1 pleasantly well, currently in 7th place with a respective goal difference of +6, the “Cherries” are on fire. Goals have come at a fluent pace so far, high scoring draws and high scoring wins have hit the agenda over recent weeks, a cracking 5-1 win over Peterborough started Bournemouth’s march up the league ladder, which was then followed by a 3-0 win against Tranmere Rovers. Even though key striker Brett Pitman departed for Bristol City, it now seems that there is a new player on the prowl, 20 year old Josh McQuoid.
So far the midfielder/striker has netted four goals this season including a double against fellow promotion side Notts County. Whoever was willing to fill the boots of Brett Pitman, was always in for a difficult challenge; however Josh McQuoid seems to be the man who has decided to step up to the plate, his performances of late have been truly recognized by manager Eddie Howe. The manager himself has been among the news this week, apart from the impressive league position, this Saturday Bournemouth fans will also be cheering for Eddie Howe. South Coast rivals Southampton was knocked backed by the man himself, the 32 year old decided to commit his future to Bournemouth football club, as he rejected Southampton’s vacant managerial post.
The fans of Bournemouth have been down that rocky road, as they saw their club survive the final stages of the 08/09 season, after that manager Eddie Howe put a glimmering hope into the football club as he successfully won promotion in his first full season as a manager, now things are looking even more brighter as the club are only two points off top spot, with a fully committed manager in charge.
