Jamie Vardy Wants Celtic Transfer As Leicester City Legend Makes Play-On Vow

Jamie Vardy has his heart “set on” a move to Celtic before the transfer window closes.

The Leicester City legendary striker departed the King Power Stadium at the end of last season after confirming he would not sign a new contract with the club.

Since that time Vardy has been out of the game with numerous clubs considering a move for the 38-year-old.

At that age the player is a veteran and is winding down and coming towards the end of his time in the game. But it is believed he fancies one more crack at a big club with the Scottish Premiership champions seemingly interested.

Vardy has worked with manager Brendan Rodgers before when both were with the Foxes and the pair won the FA Cup together in 2021 and the Community Shield.

With Celtic in desperate need to sign a striker while Adam Idah continues to try and find his shooting boots, speculation has been rife regarding Vardy and a possible move to Glasgow.

Now a ‘source’ has spoken with the Scottish Sun north of the border and revealed how Vardy would be very open to a move to Celtic.

The source also told how the striker plans to play until he is 40-years-old.

“Jamie still believes he can play week in week out and has a lot to offer,” their source is quoted. “He’s a model professional and is keeping himself in great condition.

“He’d love to move to Celtic and really has his heart set on that move.

“He loved playing under Brendan and thinks he could be a massive benefit to the team up there. In fact, ever since it became clear Celtic were up for the deal Jamie’s been desperate to make it happen.

“But other clubs are keen to so time will tell. But one thing is for sure he won’t be without a team at the end of August.”

Rangers were interested in Vardy before Celtic

Vardy previously had interest from the other side of Glasgow with Rangers manager Russell Martin quizzed on the chances of bringing in the England cap.

It is now being reported that a number of other options have become available to Vardy with the likes of Wrexham, West Ham and Sunderland all tracking the player.

Vardy’s success in the Premier League is evidence of his talent and it’s not difficult to see that he could still play at a high level after leaving Leicester.

Celtic – who want Andy Irving, as well as Calvin Stengs of Feyenoord and Go Ahead Eagles’ Jakub Breum – should have Champions League football to offer Vardy.
