Just who should Arsene swoop for in January?

With the recent news from the Arsenal boardroom stating that the money is there for Arsenal to spend, and endless transfer speculation about players from around the world being linked with the North London club, I ask, who should Arsene buy in the transfer market.
As with every club, when it comes to the transfer market, it seems everybody knows who is signing for Arsenal. Everybody says who they think we need. The papers join in with this and before long, stories about Arsene contacting players are all over the news. True or not.
This year in particular, people have very specific ideas about who Arsenal need. A quality keeper, a world class centre back, a “Patrick Vieira type” player and a prolific goal scorer. But, doesn’t every team need that? In recent weeks there have been plenty of players linked with the club. There’s the obvious, easy-to-suggest players like Gabi Agbonlahor and Xavi Alonso. There are also the ridiculusly unlikely players being suggested such as Leo Messi and Ronaldinho. There is the players who have pledged themselves to their current club but still somehow get linked like Gareth Barry, and of course, there is no Arsenal transfer rumours without the young, unheard of players e.g. … well I don’t know any because they are unheard of.
This year though, there has been some players, which I could really playing at the Emirates week in, week out and would enjoy seeing them there. Per Mertesacker is one name being suggested. I feel, if Gallas leaves then he could be the strong, vocal (and frankly quite scary) centre-back we need. Kolo’s brother Yaya Toure is also being liked with the Gunners and i feel that partnered with Cesc, he would provide the much need anchor in the Arsenal team which would allow Fabregas to get back to his best and develop even further.
Personally, I do not feel we need another goalkeeper or striker, as when Eduardo comes back in a couple of weeks, and Theo in a month or two, we will have enough options.

With a little better luck and fewer injuries, Arsenal can get their season back on track. The title race may be out of our reach, but there is still lot’s to play for.
