The televised game between the Mk Dons and Hartlepool kick started this week’s League 1 fixtures, before the match Karl Robinson’s side had started the 2010/11 campaign with two wins from three league games. Hartlepool is currently manager less as recent caretaker boss Chris Turner decided to leave his post. Milton Keynes Dons are undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with, Sam Baldock has already scored four goals this season, also the “Dons” have many experienced players in their side such as Luke Chadwick and Dietmar Hamann. Mk Dons had most of their efforts on target, while mid-table Hartlepool struggled to test keeper David Martin. Karl Robinson’s side managed to claim a 77th minute winner despite being down to ten men, as substitute Lewis Guy netted the goal, that now makes Milton Keynes Dons the 6th placed side in League 1. Meanwhile the aftermath of the sacking of Southampton manager Alan Pardew has taken its toll, the “Saints” were surprisingly defeated by League 1 newcomers Rochdale. A 2-0 away win for Keith Hill’s side pushes them up to ninth place.

Craig Short and his Notts County team delivered a spectacular performance against Yeovil, the team from the East Midlands netted four goals against the relegation fodder opponents, on form midfielder Ben Davies netted two of the goals. There was a highly entertaining draw at the Galpharm Stadium, Huddersfield Town were held by Bournemouth, young striker Josh McQuoid netted the opener, before goals from Antony Kay and Gary Roberts edged Lee Clark side ahead; however that wasn’t the last of the action as Marc Pugh netted an important leveler for Bournemouth. Some other results were also a bit surprising; Exeter City managed to defeat Charlton Athletic thanks to a last gasp penalty from Ryan Harley. Dagenham and Redbridge managed to defeat struggling Leyton Orient by two goals to nil. There were 1-0 wins for Colchester and Tranmere, as they managed to claim the scalps of Walsall and Peterborough. Meanwhile 3rd placed Oldham drew 1-1 with Bristol Rovers, Will Hoskins scored the goal for the “Gas” but Chris Taylor managed to net a 45th minute goal, meaning Paul Dickov’s side still remain unbeaten.
