Liverpool Sacking Dalglish Was A Bit Rash!

Well where do we begin, the end of a legend was overseen today and the “king” was sent packing. Was it the right decision only time will tell, but I personally feel the decision was just a little rash, yes Liverpool were poor this year and a lot of people point to their home record yet they lost the same as Chelsea and only one more than Newcastle, Arsenal and Tottenham.

The problem with the Liverpool team was turning draws into wins; nine draws is a lot for any team but for a team that can call Anfield it’s home it is to much. But then the away form shows Liverpool only drew one away game and lost ten which is terrible and nowhere near good enough.

with the signings Liverpool bought too much was expected too soon. Jordan Henderson was bought with the future very much in mind, Jonho Shelvey played far too many games then what was expected of him especially given the fact that he started the season playing for Blackpool.

I also think that Jay Spearing is nowhere near the required level to play for a club of Liverpool’s stature. A lot of injuries hampered the squad and I doubt that anyone really could of done much better with what was available and transfer wise I doubt how much influence Dalglish had really I think Commoli was the man who was in charge of the transfers and hence the reason he departed the club before Dalglish.

I always felt at the start of the season this was going to be a season of transition for the club and none of the signings have played for such a historic club Adam and rangers apart. Now for Dalglish’s replacement I feel Martinez would be the wrong choice for three quarters of the season Wigan were frankly terrible and lost eight in a row, not what Liverpool need. Also since he arrived at Wigan how much progression has he actually overseen I would say very little. Another person linked is Paul Lambert he has had a brilliant three seasons at Norwich and he may be wondering how much further he can take Norwich, he also has previous at big clubs and knowing the expectation with his Celtic and Borussia Dortmund days.

Would he though be the big name the Kop craves and he only has one year of Premier League experience as a manager, what about Harry Redknapp would he be willing to take it especially if Chelsea end up winning the champions league? The Liverpool job seems appealing and I’m sure whoever gets the job they will receive funds to dip into the market and recruit their own players.

The club also needs a lot more leadership from the owners FSG the fans will be patient but only for so long they want to know what is going on with the new stadium plans and where the club is going this season has not been the best yet two cup finals and one success overcoming Manchester city over two legs shows the club on its day can hold its own.

Whoever the owners decide to install they need to be given time. a quality winger and striker is a must if the club wants to push for champions league qualification and with a season that will involve Europa league next year more depth is also much needed if this great club is to return to where it belongs.
