His name is Marcelo Moreno Martins, a 20-year old, 1.87m tall striker from Bolivia. He has been tipped as the future of Bolivian football, impressing for both his nation’s team and Brazilian club Cruzeiro. Recently, Marcelo Moreno has claimed that he has been in contact with Manchester United, regarding a possible transfer to the English giants.
Moreno is known for his goal celebration: getting down on one knee and acting as though he’s shooting a machine gun. He has been at Cruzeiro since March 2007, scoring 19 goals until today. He said that he is postponing thoughts about his future till the end of the Copa Libertadores, which he wants his club Cruzeiro to win. The Copa Libertadores finishes on the 2nd July and Marcelo Moreno is the leading top scorer with 8 goals.
The competition is currently in the Last 16 stage, with the first leg already played. Cruzeiro were drawn against Boca Juniors and lost their first leg by the score of 2-1. The second leg will be played on Thursday 8th May at 00:10 (CET). Here is a video of the young Moreno in action:
