Manchester United have agreed a transfer for midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who is set to join Turkish side Galatasaray this month.
It’s been another up-and-down season at Old Trafford, as Manchester United lurch from one crisis to another.
Manager Ruben Amorim was sacked on Monday after an explosive press conference saw him take aim at the club’s senior management.
Former Sporting CP boss Amorim was accused of tactical inflexibility and stubbornness during his 14-month tenure.
And with tensions boiling over between the Portuguese coach and director of football Jason Wilcox, United’s bosses chose to pull the plug on project Amorim.
Former Red Devils midfielder Darren Fletcher has taken interim charge, and will manage the side until a successor for Amorim is found.
Many are wondering how United will play under Fletcher, but it appears one man definitely won’t be involved.
With Amorim gone, it has now been reported that midfielder Ugarte is following him out the door.
Manchester United Agree Manuel Ugarte Transfer
Sources in Turkey have linked 24-year-old Uruguayan international Ugarte with a move to the Superlig for several weeks.
Ugarte joined in the summer of 2024, linking up with former coach Amorim when he replaced Erik ten Hag.
The midfielder has made 60 appearances for United, but has never looked convincing.
Unable to adapt to the Premier League or settle into a starting spot, his days at Old Trafford looked numbered.
And it now seems like he is heading to Turkey, with Galatasaray the destination.
Ugarte has reportedly reached a full agreement to join his new club, with United happy to let him leave.
Full details are still being ironed out, but Manchester United are keen to facilitate the move.
Selling Ugarte will free up valuable wage budget and a squad space as the club looks to move on from a difficult period.
Ugarte Will Link Up With Familiar Names At Galatasaray
A combative and physical midfielder, United signed Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain with high hopes.
But a difficult spell in Manchester looks set to end with a whimper.
Should he complete this move to Galatasaray, Ugarte will link up with plenty of well-known stars.

Former Premier League players at the club include ex-Manchester City duo Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan.
Also there are Mario Lemina, Davinson Sanchez and Lucas Torreira.
United’s next game, and the first under Darren Fletcher, will be Wednesday’s Premier League trip to Burnley.
After that, they host Brighton at Old Trafford in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.
