Micky van de Ven Transfer Value Revealed Amid Liverpool Interest

Liverpool are understood to have identified Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Micky van de Ven as a summer transfer target.

Reds chiefs have made strengthening the defence a top priority, with Virgil van Dijk set to turn 35 in July, while Ibrahima Konate’s current contract is due to expire on June 30.

Van de Ven is widely viewed as an ideal partner for Van Dijk initially, while it is also believed that he is good enough to eventually replace his fellow Dutchman as the No 1 central defender at Anfield.

Tottenham reluctant to sell Micky van de Ven to Liverpool

It is understood that Spurs are aware of Liverpool’s interest in Van de Ven, but do not wish to sell the 24-year-old, who has also been linked with Real Madrid.

Van de Ven is under contract with Tottenham until June 2029 and has so far been hesitant to sign an extension.

Further resistance in contract talks could make Spurs more likely to sell Van de Ven in the summer, although they will only do so if they are able to make a significant profit.

How much did Tottenham pay to sign Micky van de Ven?

Van de Ven arrived at Tottenham for a total transfer value of £43 million when he signed from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in August 2023.

The initial fee was £34.5m, while the deal also included a potential £8.5m in add-ons.

What is Micky van de Ven’s transfer value now?

Since joining Spurs, Van de Ven has significantly enhanced his reputation, while his transfer value has also increased.

In September, FootballBlog.co.uk‘s AI supercomputer estimated Van de Ven’s transfer value at £60m, making him the 10th most valuable centre-back in the world.

But that value — calculated by a formula that factors in his recent performances, global profile, previous transfer fees, inflation and contract length — has since increased to £64m.

Reasons for the increase include Van de Ven starting for the Netherlands in three of their last four games and both Liverpool and Real Madrid showing interest in him.

Van de Ven also received global attention following his stunning solo goal against Copenhagen in the Champions League in November.

Would Tottenham sell Micky van de Ven for £64m?

Although Van de Ven’s fair market value has been estimated at £64m, it is understood that Spurs would demand much more than this should Liverpool come calling next summer.

Liverpool famously paid £75m for a 26-year-old Van Dijk in January 2018, so Spurs are likely to use that as a benchmark.

The Reds also flexed their financial muscle last summer by splashing out £446.5m in total on new signings in what was a record-breaking transfer window for Premier League clubs. Alexander Isak alone cost £125m, seemingly setting a precedent that Liverpool can pay the big bucks when they need to.

Should Van de Ven push for a move away, Spurs are expected to start their demands in excess of £100m.
