Mikel Arteta Provides Latest Bukayo Saka Injury Update Ahead Of Carabao Cup Semi-Final

Bukayo Saka Arsenal injury update

Arsenal fans will be waiting with bated breath after the latest Bukayo Saka injury update, with the winger facing a race against time to be fit for tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg.

Mikel Arteta’s side host Chelsea at the Emirates stadium on Tuesday night.

The Gunners won 3-2 in an excellent game at Stamford Bridge to take a slim advantage back to North London.

Arsenal led 2-0 in the reverse fixture through Ben White and Victor Gyokeres.

But a brace from former Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho either side of Martin Zubimendi’s winner kept Chelsea in the tie.

Arsenal will be the favourites to progress and face either Newcastle or Manchester City in the final, but they may have to do so without star man Bukayo Saka.

England international Saka missed Saturday’s win against Leeds United after pulling up during the warm-up.

His absence was not felt, though, with Arsenal thumping their hosts 4-0 to stretch their advantage to six points in the Premier League title race.

But Saka missing tonight’s massive cup clash would be a far bigger blow for the Gunners.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has provided an update on Saka and others, while Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has also discussed the Carabao Cup semi.

Arsenal will make the call on Saka as late as possible ahead of tonight’s game.

Although not deemed serious, the 24-year-old remains a major doubt for Tuesday’s fixture.

Mikel Arteta has confirmed it will be a 50-50 call on the winger’s fitness.

“We have to wait,” said the Spaniard.

“Today he was better, but we have to wait and see, have a response and then make the decision.

“It doesn’t look like something too serious. Whether he’s available for tomorrow or the weekend, we’ll see.”

Who Will Replace Bukayo Saka If Arsenal Star Is Ruled Out?

Should Saka not be fit enough for tonight’s game, there are several options available to Arteta.

Noni Madueke is probably the most likely after his excellent performance against Leeds.

The former Chelsea man scored at Elland Road, and assisted the opening goal from Zubimendi.

Elsewhere, Riccardo Calafiori may return from the start at left-back. The Italian came off the bench at the weekend after missing a month with a muscle injury.

Arsenal will be missing midfielder Mikel Merino, though. The Spanish international requires surgery on a foot injury, and has now been ruled out for the season.

In attack, Kai Havertz may be rested after the German started Arsenal’s last two, giving Gabriel Jesus an opportunity in the starting XI.
