Mo Salah’s Recent Confession About Struggling With Ekitike Should Terrify Every Premier League Club

Mohamed Salah

Mo Salah has recently admitted he has thus far struggled to get on the same page as new Liverpool teammate Hugo Ekitike.

Ekitike made the big money move from Eintracht Frankfurt for around £82.4million and already seems to be up to speed with the vast majority of his new teammates.

The Frenchman has found the back of the net three times from his first four competitive outings for Liverpool including in the Community Shield Final which ended in an unfortunate defeat for the club.

Salah, meanwhile, has started relatively slowly so far by his own incredibly high standards with just the one goal and the same number of assists out of the four fixtures he has played.

The Egyptian won PFA Player of the Year for last season with his ridiculous tally of 34 goals and 23 assists from 52 appearances, so the expectation is that the playmaker, even at 33 now, will find his feet and have another excellent season in front of goal.

Mo Salah feels he’s yet to find form with Hugo Ekitike

Alongside Ekitike, the Reds might well have a dominant strike force with the likes of Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and now Alexander Isak ready to chip in with goals and assists of their own.

But Salah admits he is yet to really find his feet with the 23-year-old that will take the team to new heights.

“So far I didn’t figure the connections out yet,” Salah told the Men in Blazers podcast.

“Like with Darwin or Lucho or the guys they used to play in front, or Diogo. I knew where to start with Diogo or Darwin. I know where to find them. I knew their game very well but with Hugo he’s still new.

“Sometimes I need the ball in the field. Sometimes we need [it] in the space. We try to figure that out, through the training sessions or like the videos. The manager shows us. So I will figure it out soon because also it’s going to help my game to grow as well.”

Salah and Ekitike’s individual goal stats

Success, when it inevitably comes for the pair, should terrify defences around the country as well as other teams in general who are hopeful of wrestling the Premier League title from Anfield.

Salah has an outstanding Reds record of 246 goals and 114 assists from his 405 appearances in all competitions and he has helped them towards two league titles in that time.

Ekitike has 10 years less of a career, of course, but he has hit 53 professional strikes and it’s safe to say when they do get on the same page, those numbers will increase dramatically.

With the lethal numbers as individuals, EPL clubs best beware of the duo.
