Newcastle United have made the decision to recall winger Antonio Cordero from his current loan and let him return to Spain.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle signed Cordero, also known as Antoñito, on a free transfer during the summer.

He them moved immediately to Belgian side KVC Westerlo on loan.

But the winger has struggled for playing time in the Juliper Pro League.

He has made just seven leaguer appearances, totalling 87 minutes and zero goals or assists.

As a result of this, Newcastle are keen to end his unsuccessful loan spell and find a new club for him.

Newcastle’s injury crisis in December may have tempted the club to keep him on Tyneside.

But with Cordero not deemed ready for the Premier League, a new loan is preferred.

Newcastle To Recall Antonio Cordero From Loan

According to reports, Cordero’s loan has already been agreed to be cut short.

The 19-year-old Spanish youth international has no shortage of suitors, and there is plenty of interest in him from across Europe.

Newcastle are keen to loan him back out to a new club, and wish to find somewhere for him to gain regular minutes and continue his development.

It is understood that the player would prefer a return to his native Spain.

A loan back to a familiar setting feels sensible for the youngster.

Last month, it was rumoured that Deportivo de La Coruna were keen to bring him in.

But reports now indicate that Cadiz CF are the frontrunners.

Antonio Cordero Heading Back To Spain On Loan

Reports from Spain indicate that negotiations between Newcastle Cadiz are ‘well advanced’, although details are not yet finalised,

But the deal is exepcted to be completed and formally agreed soon, with the youngster’s move now ‘imminent’.

Segunda Division side Cadiz are the player’s preferred destination, with Newcastle giving Cordero full autonomy in choosing his next temporary home.

The attacker has been pursuing a move back to Spain after his tough time in Belgium.

It is hoped that a return to a more comfortable environment will aid in him regaining form and confidence.

Cordero’s switch to Cadiz is said to be ‘99% done’, and he should complete the move at the start of the January window.

A product of the Malaga academy, he is already familiar with the Spanish second tier.

He made 39 appearances in the Segunda Division, scoring six goals and registering seven assists.

Cordero left Malaga in the summer, joining Newcastle on a free transfer.

He is yet to make a senior appearance for the Magpies.

But at just 19, it’s hoped that he will develop into a future Premier League star at St. James’ Park.
