Leeds United won’t be signing Piotr Zielinski in January after the Inter Milan midfielder appeared to rule out a mid-season switch.
There may not be any more matches in 2025 for Leeds, but the off-field action continues.
Just days away from the start of the January window, it’s vital that the newly-promoted side make the right moves if they are to avoid an immediate relegation.
But with Daniel Farke’s side now unbeaten in five and seven points clear of 18th-placed West Ham, things are looking positive.
Nevertheless, January reinforcements are still needed.
Leeds’ lightweight midfield and lack of depth have both been issues this season, and it’s clear they need to recruit.
Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo’s potential loan exit has been scrapped after an injury to Red Devil’s skipper Bruno Fernandes.
Leeds were heavily linked, and it seems they have now been dealt a second blow to their midfield recruitment plans.
Piotr Zielinski Rules Out January Exit Following Leeds Links
Veteran Polish international Piotr Zielinski had been touted as an option for Leeds in January.
Struggling at Inter under new boss Christian Chuvu, an exit was expected.
But he has since worked his way back into the starting XI at the San Siro.

And having played 84 minutes in his side’s 1-0 win at Atalanta, he appears to have ruled out a January move.
“We have a lot of great players in the team, and I get along really well with my teammates”, he said.
“We’ll try to win as much as possible [in 2026]. A team like ours must have big goals.”
With eyes firmly on helping Inter finish the season well, Leeds will have to look elsewhere for now.
Poland Manager Issued Zielenski World Cup Warning
With time running out ahead of the 2026 World Cup, finding form at the right time is essential.
Poland’s success at the tournament will hinge on the performances of their key players.
Zielinski is one of these, alongside legendary striker Robert Lewandowski.
Other big names include Atalanta’s Nicola Zelewski and Aston Villa’s Matty Cash.

But while Zielinski has more than 100 caps for his country, his place at the World Cup was not guaranteed.
Poland manager Jan Urban said earlier in the season: “If he doesn’t get more minutes going towards the next break for international duty in November, then it can become a problem.”
But it now seems that the midfielder is back to his best and firing on all cylinders.
With his aim clearly to perform for Inter Milan, Leeds won’t be getting their man in January.
