Newcastle United are considering a late January move fore Nottingham Forest and England attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.
With the 25-year-old’s future at the City Ground uncertain, he may now be heading to the North East.
Gibbs-White looked destined for Tottenham over the summer, but saw that deal collapse late in the window.
Yet despite signing a new deal with Forest until 2028, he remains a target for several Premier League clubs.
None more so than Newcastle, who are desperate to add firepower before the transfer window slams shut in just under two weeks.
Gibbs-White has been excellent for Forest this season, with six goals and three assists despite his side’s struggles.
Already keen on new signings, Eddie Howe will hope key man Bruno Guimaraes’ injury is not too severe.
But should the Brazilian be ruled out for long, it may force Newcastle to pull the tigger on signing Gibbs-White.
Newcastle have been devastated by injury this season, with key figures like Dan Burn sidelined for extended periods.
Newcastle Interested In Forest Man Morgan Gibbs-White
Morgan Gibbs-White has been the subject of interest from several Premier League clubs.
Newcastle will have to ward off competition from long-term admirers Tottenham, who may come back in for the England international after their failed summer move.
Thomas Frank’s Spurs have injury problems of their own to contend with, and could desperately use reinforcements.
Forest will be reluctant to let Gibbs-White leave, of course.

But Sean Dyche’s Tricky Trees have been enduring a difficult and disrupted campaign.
Former Burnley boss Dyche is Forest’s third manager of the campaign after Ange Postecoglou and Nunu Espirito Santo were both sacked.
And the Midlands outfit are flirting with relegation, sitting just one place and five points above the bottom three.
As a result, Forests’ top stars are being courted by rivals from the Premier League and beyond.
Newcastle Preparing For Late Business After Quiet Window
There has been little to report in terms of transfer activity at St. James’ Park this January.
No incomings or outgoings have yet been registered by the Magpies.
But with mounting defensive injury problems and a misfiring attack, it’s clear Eddie Howe needs signings.
The club recalled left-back Matt Targett from his loan at Middlesbrough to plug one hole.
And Everton target Brooke Norton-Cuffy has been touted as a possible right-back option.
With fixtures piling up and little respite, Newcastle fans may find themselves having to wait until the 11th hour for any new arrivals.
But should they land Gibbs-White, they will be signing a proven Premier League player with bags of ability.
It’s a move that would make sense for both club and player, and one we can see happening before the window closes.
