Nottingham Forest Closing In On £30 Million Signing Of Napoli Forward

Nottingham Forest are in advanced negotiations with Italian side Napoli over the transfer of striker Lorenzo Lucca.

Forest have been in dire need of attacking reinforcements this season.

Sean Dyche’s side sit 17th in the Premier League table, just five points clear of the relegation zone.

With 21 goals in 22 games, they have the worst attacking output of any club bar bottom-of-the-table Wolves.

Forest’s need for new additions is obvious. But it is often difficult to tempt players to join a side locked in the middle of a fight for survival.

And it is equally hard to keep hold of prized assets attracting interest from elsewhere.

Newcastle are keen on midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, while numerous other clubs are circling now that Forest are in trouble.

But they do still have some potential incomings. On Thursday, it emerged that Napoli striker Lorenzo Lucca is very close to joining Forest before the end of the window.

Nottingham Forest Closing In On Napoli Striker Lorenzo Lucca

According to reports from Italy, 25-year-old forward Lucca is on the verge of a move to the City Ground.

The Italian international has been considering his options in recent days.

But Forest appear to have tempted him in to a Premier League move, and are optimistic about reaching an agreement.

Lucca is ready to head to England for a medical, provided Forest and Napoli can come to terms over a transfer fee.

Despite interest from former club Pisa, Lucca is expected to join Forest rather than return to Tuscany.

It is believed that Forest’s deal for Lucca will be an initial loan move with a hefty buy option.

Lorenzo Lucca’s Napoli Move Doesn’t Go As Planned

Despite only joining Napoli last summer, Lorenzo Lucca seems to be heading for an exit.

He has managed just two goals for Antonio Conte’s side in 23 total appearances.

The towering, 6’7 striker scored 12 times for Udinese in last year’s Serie A, prompting Napoli to make a move for him.

But having failed to impress in Naples, he is set to depart after just six months at the club.

Lucca’s move to Napoli was also a loan deal, with an obligation to purchase him for around £23 million.

Forest have reportedly agree a £1 million loan with £30 million optional future fee to sign him from Napoli.

Lucca has so far won five senior caps for Italy since making his international debut in 2024, though he is yet to score for the Azzurri.
