Jorgen Strand Larsen on Newcastle Striker Shortlist as Transfer Deadline Looms

The Newcastle striker search remains the biggest storyline of their summer transfer window, with multiple names under discussion as Eddie Howe pushes for more firepower before deadline day.

The Magpies retain a strong interest in Jorgen Strand Larsen, with intermediaries currently brokering conversations about a potential move for the Wolves forward.

While a deal is not yet advanced, the 25-year-old is viewed as one of a handful of realistic targets to bolster Newcastle’s attack — particularly with uncertainty still surrounding Alexander Isak’s future.

Newcastle Striker Search: Transfer Updates on Strand Larsen and Wissa

David Ornstein has reported that Newcastle have explored moves regarding Strand Larsen, who is open to the switch but not forcing an exit from Molineux.

The Norwegian striker is seen as a cost-effective, attainable option if Newcastle fail to progress with other targets.

Yoane Wissa remains Eddie Howe’s preferred choice to replace Callum Wilson, but negotiations with Brentford have stalled. The Bees are unwilling to sanction a sale until a replacement is lined up, despite Wissa signalling his desire to move.

To complicate matters further, Brentford have slapped an eye-watering £60m transfer fee on Wissa, a price that could rule out many suitors and force Newcastle to consider alternatives.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Goncalo Ramos, Porto’s Samu Aghehowa, and even Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins have been linked, but each comes with financial or competitive barriers.

Newcastle are also wary of strengthening domestic rivals after already completing a deal for Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey earlier this month.

Newcastle Transfer Business: Isak Future Still Unresolved

While the striker hunt dominates the headlines, Newcastle have been active elsewhere. More than £100 million has already been spent, with Malick Thiaw and Jacob Ramsey arriving as long-term upgrades in defence and midfield.

Sevilla have also taken goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos on loan, though Newcastle are covering most of his wages.

But the real uncertainty remains with Alexander Isak, which only adds to the sense of unpredictability at St James’ Park this summer, as reflected in their outside price for a top four spot with football betting sites.

The Swede is desperate to join Liverpool, who have already seen a £110m bid rejected.

Newcastle insist he is not for sale, though Isak continues to train away from the squad and fans voiced their frustration during the 0-0 draw with Aston Villa.

If Isak stays and Newcastle add another striker, the window could still be judged a success. However, with Anthony Gordon currently forced into a makeshift role as centre-forward, Eddie Howe knows that reinforcements are critical.

The final weeks of the transfer window could well define Newcastle’s season. Whether it’s Strand Larsen, Wissa, or another late arrival, the Magpies need a reliable centre forward to ensure their summer business doesn’t collapse under the weight of the Isak saga.
