Brentford Slap Eye-Watering Transfer Fee On Newcastle Target Yoane Wissa

Eddie Howe newcastle manchester United

Brentford have told interested clubs the eye-watering fee they want for in-demand Yoane Wissa.

The Bees do not want to sell their prized asset having already lost Bryan Mbuemo to Manchester United, Christian Norgaard to Arsenal and even manager Thomas Frank to Tottenham Hotspur.

Wissa has interest from Newcastle United who want to add the French-born 28-year-old to their ranks following some difficult time this transfer window in landing their top targets.

The Alexander Isak saga continues with Liverpool still hoping to land the Swede and if he leaves St James’ Park, finally, it would leave the Magpies short.

Wissa has been identified to replace the forward but it is now being reported by The Boot Room that Brentford will be holding out for around £60milion to allow the player to leave.

Brentford want £60m for Yoane Wissa

That price would surely rule a number of clubs out of the race and put others off from attempting to steal Wissa away.

It was claimed recently that Wissa had already agreed on personal terms to sign Wissa but now that the Bees have put their cards on the table, it leaves it in Newcastle’s hands to meet the valuation.

Brentford’s manager Keith Andrews had been forced to wait in the transfer window to get some business done and that may well have forced the club to increase their asking price for Wissa to avoid him leaving while they waited.

However things could potentially now have changed – or could maybe even be accelerated – now that they have brought in their own summer signing in the form of Dango Ouattara from AFC Bournemouth for £40m.

Now TBR also claim that Ouattara is seen as a replacement for the already-gone Mbuemo which would mean Wissa would possibly have to wait further for his own replacement to rock up at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Why Wissa was left out of Brentford squad for Premier League opener

Wissa was left out of Brentford’s squad for their opening day defeat away to Nottingham Forest. It was a Chris Woods double which helped Nuno Espirito Santo’s team to the win.

Not only was Wissa left out but it is believed the Congolese playmaker has reportedly been refusing to train with the first-team as he seeks a move to link up with Eddie Howe and his troops.

Newcastle are unlikely to splash out the desired amount for Wissa and could look for cheaper alternatives.

We told you how Newcastle were interested in Nicolas Jackson of Chelsea.

The attacker has been told he can leave Stamford Bridge.
