Nuno Espirito Santo Nottingham Forest Sack Considered With Ange Postecoglou Replacement Option

Nottingham Forest are reportedly considering a change of manager where Nuno Espirito Santo is concerned.

The club owner, Evangelos Marinakis, and the manager’s relationship has seemingly strained in recent times as admitted by the boss himself when asked about how they work together.

It comes amid reports in Italy suggesting Marinakis is thinking about cutting ties with the man in the dugout despite a terrific seventh spot finish in last season’s Premier League.

It would be a decision likely to rock the club and playing staff who enjoy playing under their boss. And it would have an impact on the rest of their transfer window.

Nuno Espirito Santo Nottingham Forest future in doubt

But there are already claims that Ange Postecoglou could be being considered as a possible replacement option if Marinakis does indeed wield the axe.

Postecoglou was binned by Tottenham after a dismal Premier League campaign last year even though he delivered their first European trophy in more than 40 years by winning the Europa League.

He also lifted five trophies in two years as Celtic manager and would be an interesting choice for Forest. The Australian would surely like the chance to shut any doubters up by succeeding at the City Ground.

Meanwhile, Nuno and Marinakis had a public falling out last season, allegedly over the former’s decision to keep an injured player on the pitch. But that was squashed.

Why Ange Postecoglou suits Forest

Now it has reared its head again following the manager’s admission of “concern” last week over the transfer window and players he feels he needs to bring in the door to compete.

After his comments recently, the coach was asked about his current relationship with the president.

“I always had a very good relationship with the owner, last season we were very close and spoke on a daily basis,” said Nuno.

“This season it is not so well but I always believe that dialogue is important because my concern is the squad and the season we have ahead of us. Our relationship has changed and we are not as close.

What Nuno said about breakdown in Marinakis relationship

“No, it is not good. I think everybody at the club should be together but this is not the reality.”

Forest have spent more than £150million this summer alone for Nuno in the market and have signed the likes of Man City’s James McAtee, Dan Ndoye from Bologna, Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich Town and Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes.

It is not yet known whether the club will spend any more on players which may be what has frayed the relationship between the pair.
