This weekend there really are some great fixtures and there are two big games on Sunday. The north London derby and the derby between Liverpool and Manchester United, are the headline games but there are some more intriguing fixtures elsewhere.
I start with the game at Anfield where the home side will look to continue their 100% record in all competitions. On the other hand Utd will want to bounce back after a dull draw with Chelsea, it was a good point for Moyes but I think it was a better point for Mourinho.
Earlier this week we found out that these sides will meet at Old Trafford in the league cup in three weeks time in which Suarez could make his return.
However, that is for another time. The two in form men are Sturridge and Rooney and I expect them to play a big part in this game for their respective teams. I expect it to be a close entertaining game, because unlike Chelsea, Liverpool will be at home and will want to give the fans something to remember.
Sturridge will score as well as Coutinho for Liverpool because they have now formed a great partnership and will both be fired up for this game. Not only will the players be tied up for the fixture, the managers are also relishing the opportunity to pit their wits against one another. These managers collided last season but that was for the Merseyside derby.
I expect Rooney to be influential in his side’s play but not to get on the score sheet, although I think he will get a couple of assists to his name. Van Persie to get a brace, and have a goal ruled out because there is always some controversy in the big games in the league. I predict 2-2.
Both sides have been in good form since the turn of the year and both sides will take a point, although it would get some people on Moyes’ back.
The lunchtime kick off at the Etihad stadium is the next stop for Hull City in their quest to survive the drop. This should be a straightforward game for the hosts so they will be under a lot of pressure to not only get the three points but to win with style and comfort. Hull will be under no pressure and anything for them will be a bonus, but they will be dreaming of a shock.
I expect it to be a comfortable win for City who will use the crowd to their advantage, I cam see it being similar to the Newcastle game a couple of weeks ago. How I say I expect it to be like the Newcastle game, it means that City will dominate and play an attractive style of football. Hull won’t under perform and they won’t go down without a fight but they don’t have enough quality to get in behind the back four.
The former champions will immediately bounce back from a shock defeat at Cardiff, and I can see Negredo scoring as well as Dzeko. I expect this to be a masterclass on how to play the beautiful game and for City to win 2-0. It will be fast paced, tika taka football and one not to miss if you are a big fan of footie.
My other predictions are:
Cardiff 2-1 Everton
Newcastle 1-0 Fulham
Norwich 2-2 Southampton
West Ham 1-0 Stoke
Palace 1-1 Sunderland
WBA 1-2 Swansea
Arsenal 4-3 Spurs
