Rasmus Hojland Shock Transfer Link Emerges as Manchester United Exit Draws Closer

Rasmus Hojland has been linked with what would be a stunning return to Atalanta.

The Danish striker has been told by Manchester United of their plans to let him leave the club this summer and has had a number of clubs reach out to learn his circumstances.

United will sell the player but will only do so for the right price which is believed to be in the region of £30million.

That fee represents a massive loss in money for the Red Devils who spent more than £70m to sign the player from Atalanta in the first place.

The likes of striker-starved Newcastle United, RB Leipzig and Juventus have all been linked with the 22-year-old’s signature this window and it remains to be see where he will end up.

Rasmus Hojland wanted by former club Atalanta

However according to the Athletic, that destination could certainly be a familiar one for the striker in his former employers.

The publication reports that Atalanta have ‘given consideration’ to bringing the frontman back after his 10 goals in 34 appearances earned him his move to Old Trafford back in 2023.

In his stint with United he has only managed 26 goals in all competitions from almost 100 games and he has struggled to nail down a starting spot under Ruben Amorim.

United just signed Benjamin Sesko who is expected to make it even more difficult for Hojland to play minutes and that has likely played a part in his decision to leave.

Hojland was not involved at all as United lost their opening Premier League clash of the season to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon and they drew a blank in a 1-0 loss.

Napoli are reportedly interested in Hojland’s signature before the transfer window slams shut at the beginning of September.

What AC Milan sporting director said about Hojland interest

With their current top striker Romelu Lukaku injured and believed to be ready to sit on the sidelines for up to three months, the Italian outfit, according to Fabrizio Romano, asked United for loan deal conditions for the player.

That could be an intriguing proposition for the attacker who would by all reports be interested in a return to Italian football.

AC Milan have also made their interest clear in Hojland with their sporting director, Igli Tare, publicly taking to the media to confirm their desire to bring the forward to the San Siro if a deal can be struck.

He told Mediaset: “Rasmus Hojlund is a good option for us.

“We are thinking about him but in the transfer market you never know what could happen.”
