With AC Milan involved in a tight Serie A title battle with Inter Milan, Napoli, Roma and Juventus, the January transfer window could prove critical. Below, we take a look at the latest transfer rumours affecting Italy’s top division.
Faik Sakar from RB Leipzig to AC Milan
A potential switch from Germany to Italy could be on the cards if Faik Sakar completes a move from RB Leipzig to AC Milan during the January transfer window.
Currently part of Leipzig’s Under-19 setup, the 17-year-old attacking midfielder has made seven appearances in the U19 Nachwuchsliga Group B during the 2025/26 campaign, scoring twice.
Formerly involved with Leipzig’s Under-17s and capped once by Germany at U17 level, Sakar is regarded as a promising young talent and could be viewed as a long-term project for Milan should a deal be struck.
While Sakar was not developed in Milan’s academy system, his growing reputation has already attracted attention, and the club may see him as a player capable of developing into a key attacking option in the future.
With Milan firmly in the mix to lift their first Scudetto since the 2021/22 campaign — aided by Allegri’s tactical setup — the addition of a highly rated young attacker could appeal as part of their longer-term planning.
Marco Brescianini from Atalanta to Cagliari
Marco Brescianini could be set for a domestic move within Serie A, with reports suggesting Cagliari are monitoring his situation at Atalanta.
The box-to-box midfielder has featured in eight of Atalanta’s 16 league matches this season and only a third of their Champions League league-phase fixtures, which has fuelled speculation over his future.
Brescianini only joined Atalanta from Frosinone for just over £8.5 million in the summer, but currently finds himself behind Yunus Musah, Éderson and Lorenzo Bernasconi in the midfield pecking order.
Atalanta are on course to automatically qualify for the Champions League round of 16 and remain involved in a crowded race for European qualification domestically.
Whether they would allow Brescianini to leave — even on loan — remains to be seen, particularly given the risk of injuries between now and the end of the season.
Carlos Augusto from Inter Milan to Beşiktaş
While there are potential incomings and domestic moves being discussed, one possible outgoing from Serie A has also been mentioned.
This appears to be the least likely of the three rumours, with Inter Milan left-back Carlos Augusto having missed just one of the club’s 15 league matches during the 2025/26 campaign.
The Brazilian has also featured in five of Inter’s six Champions League league-phase matches this season. Across all competitions, Augusto has made 116 appearances for the club, scoring six goals and providing 12 assists.
With no clear indication that Inter are willing to sell, and no firm valuation emerging, a move to Beşiktaş currently remains speculative.
