Sir Bobby criticises Real Madrid

Bobby Charlton

Although not a regular media figure, Man Utd director Sir Bobby Charlton has felt it is apropraite to come out and criticise heavily Real Madrid’s persistent pursuit of Man Utd wing sensation Cristiano Ronaldo. Real are somewhat trying to unsettle the World’s Best Player, but their attempts are useless, as the player himself stated that he will be at United for the foreseeable future. Charlton says that the mentality that Real Madrid or Barcelona are the world’s biggest clubs is entirely wrong. Manchester United is, on the contrary, the best club in the world, and Ronaldo is proud to be a Red Devils’ player.

“Ronaldo’s on a long-term contract with us. I don’t have to say we expect him to honour it because he will honour it unless something tragic happens. Do I think Ronaldo will be at United next season? Absolutely.”

“It really irritates me how people can set rumours going and undermine people through the media. It’s unethical. They have not got the right to undermine the way we have helped this lad. Everybody seems to think that Real Madrid or Barcelona are the two greatest clubs in the world. I don’t think I have to tell Cristiano that Manchester United is the biggest club in the world.” – Sir Bobby Charlton
