Spanish journalist Alfredo Relano has criticised Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham for his drinking celebration in the 6-1 win over AS Monaco on Tuesday night.
Relano believes the celebration was unnecessary, as it amplifies the message and brings more attention to the drinking allegations.
Jude Bellingham Criticised for Drinking Celebration Against Monaco
Real Madrid recorded their biggest win of the season on Tuesday night, beating AS Monaco 6-1 in Gameweek 7 of the Champions League at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Kylian Mbappe matched Cristiano Ronaldo’s record, Vinicius Jr. won the Man of the Match award, and Franco Mastantuono became the third youngest Real Madrid scorer in Champions League history.
Jude Bellingham also got in on the action, scoring Los Blancos’ sixth goal of the night in the 80th minute. The Englishman rounded the goalkeeper before tucking the ball away from close range.
After scoring, Bellingham celebrated by miming a drinking gesture, hitting back at the rumours about his excessive partying. There have also been claims that the midfielder often arrives drunk to training.

Senior journalist Alfredo Relano was not amused by Bellingham’s cheeky celebration. He found it unnecessary and thinks the celebration drew attention to the allegations.
Relano said on El Partidazo de COPE (Defensa Central):
“If I were his older brother, I’d say to him: ‘What have you achieved with that? You’ve made it clear to a lot of people who weren’t involved in that scene that you drink a lot.
“Are you telling people you plan to keep partying hard at night? You’re joking about something that some will find funny and others not so much.”
He concluded by adding:
“You gain nothing. The Bellingham celebration’s reach is more important than social media. That’s why I didn’t like it.”
Bellingham Explains Why He Pulled Off the Drinking Celebration
After the game, Bellingham said he pulled off this “joke” as a reply to those who made such unfounded claims.
“It feels like anyone now can get a camera, say what they want, and the whole world just believes them with no evidence,” said Bellingham.
Jude Bellingham: “My celebration? A lot of people say a lot of things…”.
“You can cry about it, or moan, or you can enjoy it. I gave a joke back to the fans. I know the truth”. pic.twitter.com/rL1XNVAkiV

“I feel there’s two ways you can take it. You can cry about it and moan, or you can just roll with it and enjoy it.
“[The celebration] was a bit of a joke back to the fans and to the people who say whatever they want. For me, I know the truth, and I know what really goes on in my personal life.”
Bellingham also appeared unapologetic about the celebration on social media. He posted an image of his celebration with the caption “cheers”.
