Spurs to summon Harry Potter?! (Short, Updated Answer:No)

Tottenham look set to complete a loan deal for Inter’s Ricardo Quaresma, nicknamed “Harry Potter” for his wizard-like trickery on the ball (I know, whoever thought up that nickname should be shot), with Jermaine Jenas moving to Inter in return.

The 25 year old Portugese right winger impressed whilst at Porto and comparisons were quickly drawn up between him and fellow Portugese winger Christiano Ronaldo. Inter signed him for 18.6 million Euros in September but the player failed to impress and won the notorious “Golden Bin” award in late 2008. The winger has been described as “lazy” and “out of shape” by the Inter faithful.

Quaresma has also played for Barcelona, but left in circumstances similar to the current Inter situation. He was bought for a reasonable amount but failed to put in the hard work and was quickly dubbed a “big player for the little teams and a little player for the big teams”.

Even Quaresma’s manager, Jose Mourinho, ahs expressed his dissapointment at the player.

“I am disappointed with him,” said “the Special One. Without confidence in oneself it becomes more difficult.”

Jermaine Jenas has recently rowed with Harry Redknapp and has been rumoured to have wanted a move ever since. Mourinho admitted to tracking the player for a long time and it appears a swap-loan deal could be only minutes away from completion.

There’s no doubt Quaresma has some skill, but do we really need another right winger, alongside Bentley and Lennon? Anyhow to get you in the mood for “Harry” I’ve included a video of some of his tricks and wizardry (apologies for the rather “epic” music).

UPDATE: A number of Spurs fan’s have reported seeing Quaresma outside the Lane and my friend has just text me saying his mate outside the stadium has seen a couple of unidentifiable people arrive in big cars with blacked out windows. Ooh, the excitement.

FINAL WORD:

Quaresma has now signed on loan for Chelsea, ending any Tottenham speculation. Shame really but now we’re in the relegation dogfight we need proven performers like Keane, not frail, temperamental wingers like Quaresma.
