A weakened Stoke side finished their Austrian tour successfully with a 2-1 friendly victory over the Bahrain natioinal side.
After a bright start, the Potters, missing the likes of Ryan Shawcross, Dave Kitson, Andy Griffin, Mamady Sidibe and long-term absentee Ricardo Fuller took the lead on 29 minutes through Richard Cresswell. The deflected effort was the second goal of pre-season from the striker/winger following his opener against Newcastle Town last week.
Bahrain levelled just two minutes later, with Abdullatif scoring powerfully for the Arabic nation. However, Stoke had much of the best of the second half, missing a host of chances, notably with Rory Delap twice missing open goals.
The Stoke winner did come through, a powerful header from Vincent Pericard sealing the win with fifteen minutes remaining.
The game did, however end on a sour note with both Danny Pugh and Liam Lawrence being sent off late on and even Leon Cort receiving a rare blemish on his disciplinary record with a late booking.
