Tottenham Manager Thomas Frank Aims Subtle Dig at Eberechi Eze in Press Conference

Manchester City vs Tottenham Tips

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank appeared to aim a subtle dig at Eberechi Eze after the Crystal Palace star rejected Spurs in favour of a £67.5 million move to Arsenal.

Spurs had been closing in on a deal for the 27-year-old, only for the Gunners to swoop in at the eleventh hour and seal an agreement with both player and club.

Eze, who grew up an Arsenal supporter and spent time in their academy as a youngster, made it clear that a return to north London with Mikel Arteta’s side was his preferred destination.

Thomas Frank on Eze

Speaking ahead of Spurs’ clash with Manchester City, Frank refused to be drawn on Eze directly but underlined his stance on players who hesitate to commit to Tottenham.

“I don’t want any players that don’t want to come to this club and wear this fantastic badge,” he said.

“Play for the badge, play for the club, really enjoy it — if not, no problem. We don’t want them here.”

The pointed comments were taken by many as a response to Eze’s last-minute change of heart, especially given Spurs’ long pursuit of the England international.

Thomas Frank on Spurs Transfer Activity

Tottenham’s transfer window has been mixed so far, with Mohammed Kudus, João Palhinha and Kota Takai the only major arrivals.

Missing out on Eze — a versatile playmaker seen as an ideal replacement for the injured James Maddison — has only heightened frustrations among fans.

Frank, however, defended the club’s approach and insisted that patience was needed.

“You can’t just walk into Waitrose, pick two good players off the shelf and walk away,” he joked.

“I see Daniel [Levy], Johan [Lange] and Vinai [Venkatesham] working extremely hard. I’m confident we’ll add to the squad before the window closes.”

Are Spurs Selling Richarlison?

One positive for Spurs has been Richarlison’s form, with the Brazilian scoring twice in their 3-0 win over Burnley last weekend.

Despite rumours of a potential swap deal involving Eze, Frank confirmed that the striker remains central to his plans.

“Right now he’s my starting No.9. Richy wants to stay, I want to keep him — there’s been no talks about anything else.”

With Maddison sidelined and Dejan Kulusevski also out, Spurs have been linked with alternative creative targets such as Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche.

Whether they can land a reinforcement before the end of the window remains to be seen, but for now, Frank has made his position on commitment crystal clear.
