Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified a fresh attacking target should they fail to land Savinho this summer.
Thomas Frank sees Manchester City’s winger as ideal candidate to fit into his system in North London and Spurs have already tried to land Savinho.
It is claimed that City want to keep hold of their Brazilian talisman with Pep Guardiola not wanting to lose the 21-year-old, especially not to a divisional rival.
Spurs have not been spooked by City’s stance, however, and it is believed they are set to return to the table should they receive the greenlight from their foes regarding an openness to discuss a fee.
Tottenham target Maghnes Akliouche as Savinho transfer alternative
Though the desired price tag may have put Spurs off as it sits at the £60million mark.
However, reports have emerged this week suggesting Spurs have sorted out an alternative should they get the kibosh on Savinho.
According to The Independent, AS Monaco attacker Maghnes Akliouche has been sounded out by Spurs as a possible summer signing if they cannot land Savinho.
It is believed that the fact they finished 17th in the Premier League last season has no real bearing on any decision for Akliouche to make as they do have Champions League involvement.
That was guaranteed by former boss Ange Postecoglou who guided the club to the Europa League trophy, their first piece of Euro silverware in 41 years.
What is Man City Savinho valuation?
They were narrowly defeated by Paris Saint-Germain on penalty kicks in the UEFA Super Cup Final earlier this pre-season but they won their opening league match at home 3-0 over Burnley.
New boss Frank has already sanctioned the spending of money on recruits and Mohammed Kudus joined from West Ham United for a fee of around £55m.
Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso also joined the club on permanent deals having initially been on loan last season.
Another loan was also struck with Bayern Munich this term for Joao Palhinha who was brought in a few short weeks ago.
If Spurs can’t prise Savinho away from the Etihad – and Akliouche is also priced out of a move – Daniel Levy seems to have something else up his sleeve.
Spurs in talks with Eberechi Eze
It is understood that the club are closing in on an agreement to sign Crystal Palace wide player Eberechi Eze on a £60m deal with a staggering £30m up front payment and the rest coming in instalments.
Eze was asked by Eagles boss Oliver Glasner to start and play for the club last weekend in their opening matchday draw with Chelsea despite the possibility of injury.
The English international was as professional as ever and obliged and he thought he had scored what would have been the winning goal with a free-kick at Stamford Bridge.
But it was disallowed.
