Tottenham Hotspur’s ‘Dangerous’ Attack

You could say Tottenham still haven’t had the 20+ goal a season they have lacked for YEARS! Last season Tottenham bought Soldado for £26  million from Valencia, But fans feel short changed what happened to the prolific striker who scored 59 goals in 101 games. Has this harmed them getting into champions league?

  • Jermain Defoe could only manage 1 goal in 14 games

  • Roberto Soldado 6 goals scored in 28 appearances

  • Emmanuel Adebayor 11 goals scored in 21 appearances

  • Harry Kane 3 goals scored in 10 appearances

Fact Gareth Bale is the last player to score more than 20+ goals in a season for Tottenham scoring  21  Premier League goals in the  2012-2013 season.
This is where the problem lies for Tottenham they haven’t replaced the 21 goals and thought signing Soldado would get the goals for them,  Been a honest man i also  believed the same. What this has done as it has many other season previous is cost us our top 4 ,For example in the 2013-2014 season we scored  55 goals conceded 51 leaving us with a goal difference of 4.

“If you put those goals and assists onto our season I think it would be a different complexion. We could do with that this year. If we put those goals on the pitch we’re probably fighting for the title.” – Tim Sherwood speaking to (Stuart Appleby, The Telegraph,17th April 14)

Table shows Tottenham poor goal difference, Compared to other top 6 teams.

What do we need in my opinion strikers are not that expensive if you look around Atletico Madrid, Porto and Dortmund have been finding quality strikers for years below I list the fees and stats compared to Soldado.

  • Adrian Ramos(Dortmund 1st July free transfer) Scored 16 goals in 30 games for Hertha BSC, This record makes things worse he
wasn’t even playing for a top German club and has outscored all of our strikers most of his goals coming from inside the box.
  • Jackson Martinez (Porto) Scored  20 goals in 29 league games, 3 goals in 12 appearances came from playing left striker in a 4-3-3
  • Christian Benteke( Aston Villa)
Scored 10 goals in 24 appearances and was injured half way in the season
  • Luca Toni (Verona) Scored 20 goals in 34 appearances
  • Ciro Immobile ( Dortmund 1st July) scored 22 goals in 28 appearances for Torino  (ALL STATS FROM (whoscored.com).
Something is wrong when Luca Toni scores more then you at age 37!!!
Tottenham need to address this the goal difference Tottenham had of +4 was the worse in the top 4, With strikers at the ready in the world cup will Tottenham invest?
In a club statement at the end of the season Daniel Levy said
“Our focus is to continue to invest in and develop the squad. We shall not look to a summer of major upheaval, but rather to strengthen in key positions to play the style of football for which we are famous” Daniel Levy (www.thfc.com)
So who is available and would Tottenham pay the asking rate for a top scorer? Logan Holmes from Fansided reports that Tottenham want Lukaku, He has a decent record scoring 30 goals in 64 appearances for his two loan clubs. But is he a long term prospect or someone who can fire straight away? For me the striker we need is Jackson Martinez his movement is top draw and is a 100% poacher 35 million we would have to pay but we wouldn’t regret paying that money for someone who has scored  46 goals in 60 games since 2012
