Vidic fit for Title decider

Manchester United fans will be breathing a sigh of relief today, as star defender Nemanja Vidic has been declared fit ahead of the possible title decider against Chelsea tomorrow.

Vidic missed the midweek game against Barcelona, thanks to a stomach virus. However, the Serbian international was able to take part in the training session this morning, and is elligible for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking on the club’s official website, manager Sir Alex Ferguson was hopeful that Vidic will be able to start against the blues.

“He has trained this morning. We’re hopeful he will be fit. He has a good chance. We dealt with it [the virus] right away and got him to hospital quickly. We hope he is going to be all right”, said Sir Alex.

Sir Alex also addressed concerns that Chelsea had an advantage because of the extra day of preparation incurred. Chelsea played their Champions League semi final tie a day earlier than United’s.

“The Liverpool fixture with Chelsea was Tuesday followed by Wednesday, so there is four days either way to get themselves ready, which is a big advantage… Once you shake hands with the devil, there is nothing you can do about it. It is not fair but what can you do? It happened to us last year after the semi-final with AC Milan, we had to play Manchester City on Saturday lunchtime. We just get on with it.”
