Who Is The Best Player In League 1?

There are many questions, about who is the best player, in different leagues all over the world. However I have chosen to write about the best player in League 1. I had a shortlist of twenty seven players and I narrowed it down to five…

5) Rickie Lambert – Southampton
Lambert is one of the most consistent players in League 1, he has had a successful time with Bristol Rovers, and now he has moved to Southampton, he is still banging in the goals. Rickie Lambert is the top scorer for Southampton, with ten goals, his most recent came against Leyton Orient last Saturday, where he netted two in that game. In his last three games, Lambert has scored four times as he also found the net against Mk Dons and Oldham. Lambert could well finish as the League 1 top scorer this season.

4) Wes Hoolahan – Norwich
Without doubt, Wes Hoolahan is one of the best players in League 1 this season. The winger creates a lot of chances when playing for Norwich, and he causes many full-backs problems when he comes up against them. He has scored six goals for the Canaries this season, most of which has been from the penalty spot. Also Wes Hoolahan also netted the winning goal against Carlisle early last month. He also has three assists to his name this season. His all round wing player is terrific, as that makes him one of the most enjoyable players to watch in League 1 in 09/10.

3) Robert Snodgrass – Leeds
Robert Snodgrass is just a superb player for Leeds, and is defiantly one of the best players in League 1, so far this season. He has delivered some brilliant displays for Grayson’s team this season, as he caused Liverpool all sorts of problems in their Carling Cup match. He is known to cut in from the wing and deliver some wicked crosses; his set pieces also can be dangerous, when playing for Leeds. He has only scored three goals so far this season, his most recent coming way back in September, as he scored the winning goal in a 1-0 away win at Stadium MK. However as I mentioned, his crossing and set pieces are deadly, as that has seen him grab six assists so far in the 09/10 League 1 campaign.

2) Grant Holt – Norwich
Grant Holt decided to leave League 2 behind, and join Norwich City in League 1. A step up from a different league can be hard; however it has proven that Grant Holt is still as good as he was with Shrewsbury in League 2 last season. Stats show that Holt has had the most shots this season for Norwich, as he has hit the target thirty times, twelve of them hitting the net. He bagged a double against Stockport on Saturday; he has also scored doubles against, Wycombe and Bristol Rovers. However his most success came against Yeovil in the Carling Cup, where he scored a hat-trick. There are defiantly more goals to come from Grant Holt this season.

1) Jermaine Beckford – Leeds
Jermaine Beckford is defiantly the best player in League 1. His contract is running out, and if Leeds doesn’t gain promotion, he could well move on into a better league. Beckford has pace, trickery, and best of all a very good eye for goal. Jermaine is the joint top scorer in League 1, with Lee Barnard of Southend, and Rickie Lambert of Southampton. He has netted eleven goals, all of which have been in the league. He has scored doubles, against Bristol Rovers and Exeter. Beckford is a brilliant striker and rightfully deserves to be named the League 1 best player.
