The transfer window may have closed on Monday night, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still nab yourself a cut-price bargain player. Several players are still available to buy, either from being released by their former clubs, or from a contract loop-hole allowing them to move after the deadline.
So step up, and enter the wonderful world of FOOTBALL PLAYER CAR BOOT SALES!

#BARGAIN 1.
Stephen Appiah
Country: Ghana, Age: 27
Previous Owner: Fernabache
Condition: In good nick. He’s only 27 which means, at least, you’ll get another 3 years out of him. Dominant midfielder and would slot in brilliantly with Modric. Could also be used as cover for Zokora.
Price: No transfer fee of course, but likely to want a medium wage. Around £30 000 most likely.
Should we ‘nab ‘im? Definately. Could face competition from Arsenal and West Ham however.

#BARGAIN 2.
Ronaldo
Country: Brazil, Age: 31
Previous Owner: AC Milan
Condition: Second hand goods really. Injury prone and overweight. Then again, we aneed all the forward cover we can get. I’d rather start Ronaldo up-front with, Pavlyuchenko say, then Fraser Campbell.
Price: Free transfer. Wages would be astronomical. £100 grand a week contract, perhaps?
Should we ‘nab ‘im? Hmmm, only if Pavlyuchenko or Bent get injured. And if we did ‘nab ‘im, I would no way be happy if the clum put him on a contract over £40 grand.

#BARGAIN 3.
Thomas Gravesen
Country: Denmark, Age: 30
Previous Owner: Celtic
Condition: Fair condition. Has struggled with injury’s in the last couple of years but is fit at the minute. Would likely be used as cover for Zokora and Huddlestone.
Price: Free transfer. Low-to mid wages. £10 grand-£15grand maybe?
Should we ‘nab ‘im? Only if one of our defensive mid-fielders or right back’s get injured. If Hutton gets injured, for example, Zokora will be played at Right back or used as cover for Corluka. Then again, if we get Appiah that wouldn’t be a problem. Shouldn’t really be on our radar.

#BARGAIN 4.
Freddie Ljunberg.
Country: Sweden, Age: 31
Previous Owner: West Ham
Condition: Fair condition. Broke his ribs at West Ham, but fit at the minute. Can play anywhere on the wing, so could provide cover for Bentley, Lennon, or Dos Santos.
Price: Free. Medium wages. £20-£30 grand?
Should we ‘nab ‘im? Hmmmm… When you first see his name you think old Arsenal winger who’s now past it. But he could give us some wing cover. Bale seems a little bit injury-prone and Gilberto hasn’t really impressed so he could do OK. Then again I wouldn’t offer him a big contract, we’d probably release him ourselves at the end of the season.

#BARGAIN 5.
Alexey Smertin.
Country: Russia, Age: 33
Previous Owner: Fulham
Condition: Poor. His time at Fulham was plagued by injury’s and he’s been injury prone throughout his career. He’s fit at the minute, however.
Price: Free. Very low wages. You’re looking at £2-£8 grand.
Should we ‘nab ‘im? No way. He is versatile, but we’ve already got a big squad. If he wasn’t good enough for Fulham, he;s not gonna be good enough for the Spurs is he? Should only be signed in the worst of injury crisis’.

Well, there you have it. There’s some bargains out there-but only if you know where to look. Remember, http://spurs.footballblog.co.uk will be the first place to let you know if we sign any of those players. 🙂
