Reports in the News of the World say that Russian businessman Vladimir Antonov will financially back English property-developer Andrew Ellis in a bid to buy the club.
Rangers were officially removed from the markets during the summer after Andrew Ellis’ proposed £33m takeover fell through. Ellis was intent on a successful takeover at Ibrox which drew strong critcism from Chairman Alistair Johnston. Since then, the only glimmer of hope was that Dave King, based in South Africa, would agree to fund an RST consortium but that was never really going to prosper with King under investigation by the South African government.
