Second-choice goalkeeper Chris Weale has left Ashton Gate on a Bosman free transfer to League 1 champions Leicester City.
Weale, who was loaned out to both Hereford and his former club Yeovil during this past season, was widely expected to leave in order to gain first-team football.
Weale has struggled with injuries, and has only rarely filled in for first-choice ‘keeper Adriano Basso.

City manager Gary Johnson told bcfc.co.uk, ‘Chris had already informed us he would be looking to move on in the summer.’
‘Chris was never really able to show the fans here what he was about due to the injuries. He came here with a cruciate knee which lasted 12 months, then he had problems with his back, and more recently he’s broken his wrist and thumb.’
‘For that reason this move is the best for all parties.’
Weale played just a handful of games for the Bristol City first-team, but one of his home appearances included a dramatic FA Cup replay against Middlesbrough in 2007, where Weale saved a Yakubu penalty during Extra Time. The Nigerian forward missed another spot kick in the penalty shoot-out which Gareth Southgate’s side managed to scrape through.
