West Ham Interested In Highly Rated Nigerian International Midfielder

Tochukwu Nnadi West Ham

West Ham United are showing considerable interest in Zulte Waregem and Nigeria midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi.

After a difficult start to the season, West Ham find themselves in the bottom three.

The Irons are 18th, four points from safety and locked in the Premier League relegation battle.

With the January transfer window now open, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are in dire need of reinforcements.

They have already brought in striker Taty Castellanos, with Niclas Fullkrug joining AC Milan.

Survival is paramount, and the club cannot afford to hesitate when it comes to new arrivals that could save their season.

The midfield has been a problem area throughout the campaign, and somewhere it’s obvious they must strengthen.

And it appears they are ready to do so.

West Ham Keen On Nigeria’s Tochukwu Nnadi

In recent days, The Irons have emerged as front-runners to sign Nigerian international, Tochukwu Nnadi.

The 22-year-old has made 16 appearances in Belgium’s Juliper Pro League this season.

Reports from Belgium indicate that West Ham are very interested in the ‘explosive’ Nnadi.

Current club Zulte Waregem are open to letting him leave in January, and are already working on a replacement.

Nnadi is currently away at AFCON with Nigeria, but is believed to be keen on the move.

West Ham Sporting director Mark Noble is a big fan of Nnadi, and wants to bring him in this month.

Why Signing Nnadi Could Be A Risk For West Ham

Following last week’s shock 3-0 loss at bottom club Wolves, West Ham’s situation looks increasingly dire.

Losing tonight’s huge clash with 17th-placed Nottingham Forest would leave them seven points from safety.

If they want any hope of staying up, they must bring in quality additions this month.

And Nnadi has been described as ‘strong and explosive’, while possessing a huge work-rate.

But there are risks attached to his signing. At 22, he has so far only played professionally in Belgium and Bulgaria.

It would be a massive gamble to bring him into the Premier League in the midst of a relegation battle.

With no pre-season to adapt to a new country and new team-mates, there is no guarantee he would hit the ground running at West Ham.

And given the club’s defensive struggles, signing an experienced, Premier League-proven centre-back should be a bigger priority.

Nnadi could prove to be a good signing, but the timing may not be right for such a raw and unknown quantity.

The best move may be for player and club to wait until the summer, when West Ham’s fate is less in the balance.
