How Many Games Will Barcelona Star Pedri Miss After Injury Against Slavia Prague

Barcelona suffered a massive injury blow in their 4-2 victory over Slavia Prague in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.

Fermin Lopez scored a brace, while Robert Lewandowski and Dani Olmo netted one goal each as Barcelona came from a goal down to secure all three points.

The win was crucial for Barca’s hopes of direct qualification for the Champions League Round of 16, but celebrations were marred by an injury to midfield star Pedri.

Pedri Suffers Injury in Champions League Win Over Slavia Prague

Just ahead of the hour mark, Pedri went to ground, causing a break in play. He was clutching his hamstring before Hansi Flick took him off for Dani Olmo.

After the game, Flick confirmed that Pedri had suffered a hamstring injury, not just a knock.

I don’t know what he has exactly, but it’s the hamstring,” Flick revealed in the post-match press conference.

It is what it is. Sometimes these things happen. I don’t know how long he will be out. It’s not good news. We will see.

Pedri will undergo tests on Thursday to determine the severity of the injury.

Except for the result, Barca did not take many positives away from the Slavia Prague match. Lewandowski scored an own goal, Barcelona set an unwanted defensive record, and Frenkie de Jong saw his third yellow card of the campaign, which rules him out for the last league-phase match.

How Many Barcelona Games Will Pedri Miss?

Diario AS journalist Javi Miguel has ruled out a long-term injury. He claims Pedri has a tear in the right leg’s biceps femoris, which sounds worse than it is. If recovery goes according to plan, Pedri should be back in action in around a month.

Between 22nd January and 22nd February, Barcelona are scheduled to play seven games in all competitions.

  • LaLiga: Real Oviedo (H) – 25/01/26
  • Champions League: FC Copenhagen (H) –28/01/26
  • LaLiga: Elche (A) – 31/01/26
  • Copa del Rey QF: Albacete (A) – 03/02/26
  • LaLiga: Mallorca (H) – 07/02/26
  • LaLiga: Girona (A) – 15/02/26
  • LaLiga: Levante (H) –22/02/26

Pedri could also miss the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals if Barcelona beat Albacete in the quarter-finals. The game is scheduled for 11th February.

Additionally, Barca could have to compete in the Champions League play-offs if they do not win and outscore Chelsea by at least one goal in the final game.

The first leg of the Champions League play-off will be played on 17/18 February, with the second leg on 24/25 February, meaning Pedri may have to race against time to make the squad.

This is Pedri’s second hamstring injury this season. In October, he tore his hamstring on his left leg, missing five games as a result. In December, he missed one game with a calf problem.
