Barcelona set an unwanted defensive record in their Champions League league-phase victory over Slavia Prague at the Fortuna Arena on Wednesday night.
The Blaugrana came from behind to secure a 4-2 victory against the Czech team, getting themselves in a strong position to advance directly to the Round of 16.
Barca now have 13 points on the board and sit in ninth place in the Champions League table. They are level on points with Chelsea in eighth place, but are trailing on goal difference (6 to 5).
Barcelona Set Unwanted Champions League Record Against Slavia Prague
Barcelona had a depleted attack against Slavia Prague, but they were the outright favourites to beat Slavia on Wednesday night.
In the eighth minute, they seemed destined to break the deadlock as Fermin Lopez went clean through on goal. However, the midfielder applied too much power and blasted his effort over the Slavia crossbar.
Two minutes later, Slavia punished Barcelona, with Vasil Kusej converting from the corner. Lopez atoned for his earlier miss by scoring two quick goals in the 34th and 42nd minutes, firing Barca 2-1 up.
In the 44th minute, Lewandowski scored an own goal, ensuring the two teams headed into the second half on level terms.

Just past the hour mark, Dani Olmo made an immediate impact, putting Barca into the lead. In the 71st minute, Lewandowski made amends for his own goal, scoring Barcelona’s fourth from close range.
The Blaugrana managed to get maximum points, but their defensive performance left a lot to be desired.
According to Opta, it was the 10th consecutive Champions League game that Barcelona conceded in. This is their worst defensive run in the competition since its inauguration in 1955.
In their last 10 UCL fixtures, Barcelona have conceded a total of 23 goals, with 13 of those coming in the league phase this season.
Frenkie de Jong Will Miss Final UCL League Phase Game
Midfield maestro Frenkie de Jong was one of the four Barcelona players at risk of suspension against Slavia Prague. He had already picked up two yellow cards and needed to avoid another booking be available for the final Champions League league-phase match against Copenhagen next week.
De Jong barely put a foot wrong until the 87th minute, when he lunged in on Michal Sadilek, catching the midfielder off the ball. The referee reached into his pocket and showed him a yellow card, suspending him for the last game of the league phase this season.
Hansi Flick could give Marc Casado or Marc Bernal an opportunity in De Jong’s absence. He could also allow Dani Olmo a shot to boost his team’s attacking prowess.
