Bayern Munich have opened contract talks with Harry Kane.
The England captain’s current deal — which he signed upon joining Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in a £100 million move in August 2023 — runs until June 2027.
Kane has scored 119 goals in 126 games for the German giants, so it is no surprise that club chiefs are keen to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich confirm Harry Kane contract talks
Bayern director of sport Max Eberl appeared at the DFL’s New Year’s Reception on Monday and was asked about Kane’s contractual situation.
Speaking to Sky Deutschland, Eberl confirmed: “We are in talks with Harry.”
How much does Harry Kane currently earn at Bayern Munich?
Kane’s current Bayern contract is understood to be worth around €480,000 per week before bonuses.
The 32-year-old is already the highest-earning player in Germany’s Bundesliga, while the only two players in the whole of Europe known to be on a bigger weekly wage are Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe was the top scorer in world football in 2025, bagging 59 club goals — three more than Kane.

Bundesliga clubs post record revenue figures
Bayern would appear to be in a strong position to offer Kane a new contract, following confirmation that German professional football generated record revenues during the 2024/25 season.
The Deutsche Fussball Liga (DFL) revealed on Monday that the 36 clubs across the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga posted combined revenues of €6.33 billion — the highest total in the history of German football and a 7.9% increase on the previous campaign.
Top-flight clubs also benefited from growth across all major income streams, with broadcasting remaining the largest contributor, followed by commercial revenue and matchday income as attendances continued to rebound after the pandemic.
The second division also recorded a significant year-on-year increase, generating more than €1.2bn, helped by the presence of historically large clubs such as Hamburg, Schalke and Koln.
Across both divisions, 28 of the 36 clubs reported making a profit, compared to just 17 the year before — a clear sign that German football’s financial recovery is now well established.
Reflecting on the figures, DFL president Hans-Joachim Watzke said: “Today, German professional football is in better shape than ever before, based on its key figures.”
Watzke added that clubs could now approach the 2026 World Cup year “with confidence and optimism”, while continuing to invest in youth development, women’s football and international growth.
Good news for Alan Shearer?
Should Kane decide to remain with Bayern long term, then his chances of breaking Alan Shearer’s Premier League scoring record would significantly decrease.
Kane currently sits second on the all-time list of leading Premier League scorers with 213 goals in 320 games. Shearer, who retired in 2006, is 47 goals ahead of Kane, having previously netted 260 times in 441 appearances for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United.
If Kane does not return to English club football, then the man most likely to break Shearer’s record would likely become Haaland, who earlier this season became the fastest player to reach 100 Premier League goals.
