The Rovers finally claimed a victory at the 13th attempt against Ipswich on Saturday and what a relief it was for me and all the other supporters inside the Keepmoat Stadium. Seeing the highlights on the Championship this morning it has to be recognised that Rovers were extremely lucky in hanging onto their 1-0 lead, being at the match in person it appeared to be a more even contest it terms of attacking output than the television coverage has proven since. Ipswich were guilty of missing several opportunities and Darren Ambrose had his superbly volleyed effort saved well by Neil Sullivan.
But a win is a win. The streak has been broken and we have 3 points at last. Being only 4 points from safety is an easier position to occupy that the seven point gap mountain to climb that had emerged in the weeks previous, it must now be ensured that after what will undoubtedly be a testing encounter vs Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday, the Rovers do not return to the position in which they found themselves before the Ipswich match.

The man of the match vs Ipswich was awared to goalscorer Shelton Martis by the match sponsors and to captain Brian Stock by Sky TV, but for me the return of Richie Wellens has energised the team and his influence was decisive on Saturday.
