Adrien Rabiot has been told he can leave Marseille this transfer window and West Ham United are interested.
The French midfielder was allegedly involved in an altercation with teammate Jonathan Rowe after their side’s 1-0 defeat to Rennes in Ligue 1 action last week.
That spat in the changing room is believed to have broken club protocol and rules and forced their hand.
The two players were brought in front of the hierarchy and told in no uncertain terms they would be transfer listed. That was reported in French media before also being verified by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Rabiot has been poised to make a Premier League move in the past before his deal with Manchester United collapsed despite the Red Devils desperately trying to take him from Paris Saint-Germain.
West Ham interested in Adrien Rabiot
And now it is believed that Graham Potter and West Ham are seriously considering an attempt to sign the 30-year-old from the Velodrome this summer window.
We told you this week how the Hammers had identified Andrey Santos of Chelsea for a £45m bid which was ultimately rejected.
The Blues are holding out for £50m and that could price out many suitors including West Ham.
Rabiot, with his club willing to get rid now, could come at a cut-price with reports in Italy – where he was previously a target for AC Milan – claiming a clause in his contract would have him available for £10m.
As mentioned, transfer expert Romano took to his social media channels with more than 25.9 million followers to corroborate the reports and added: “Official: Olympique Marseille confirm Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe are available for sale.
“Their chapter at OM is considered over.”
He followed that up by saying: “Adrien Rabiot, available on the market as decided by Olympique Marseille today. The plan is to part ways this summer.”
West Ham midfield transfer targets 2025/26 summer
Meanwhile Bologna have agreed terms on a contract with fellow outcast Rowe with whom Rabiot had his fallout for OM.
It is being reported that the former Norwich City star is on the verge of an £18million move to Italy’s Serie A as a loan was never an option.
That means Marseille have been serious in their intentions to sell the duo after their issues and does leave the door open for Rabiot to make a Premier League move finally.
Elsewhere, Southampton’s Mateus Fernandes is seemingly another target.
A £30m bid was rejected earlier this summer, but with the Saints under financial pressure to sell, West Ham could test their resolve with a fresh bid.
Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira has also emerged as an option.
