Andre Schurrle signed, who’s next for Chelsea?

On 13 June 2013, Chelsea confirmed via their official website that they had reached an agreement with Leverkusen for the transfer of Schürrle. With the transfer fee reported to be in the region of €21 million . On 25 June 2013, Chelsea announced that they had completed the transfer of Schürrle. With Schürrle signing a five-year contract and was given the No.14 shirt this signing is just one of many as Jose Mourinho wants to spark a blue revolution.

Schurrle was a long-linked player with Chelsea, and he is the first signing made by re-appointed Jose Mourinho. But Chelsea’s expectations this season (like every season) is bigger than signing just one player to exceed those big expectations as Roman Abramovich enters his second decade as Chelsea owners.

Turnbull and Hilario out, what about back-up? With Courtois sent on yet another season long-loan to Atletico Madrid where he gets a lot of experience, and Hilario and Turnbull released after their contract at Stamford Bridge came to an end. With Cech as the only first team goalkeeper, Blackman might join the first team from the reserves but it’s still not good enough, here comes John Ruddy into the frame, the England-intrenational has been linked with Chelsea but Canaries boss Chris Hughton said that Ruddy’s future is at Norwich and he is not for sell, but there is still some possible backups goalkeeper for Cech, Jamal Blackman is most likely to come in with Reading’s Alex McCarthy also is linked but like Butland is set to turn down Chelsea’s offer due to bench fears, and even Julio Cesar and Diego Lopez are linked with a possible move to the Bridge but goalkeepers at their level won’t fit in the Chelsea bench just like Asmir Begovic.

Defender back up, young talents: Luiz, Cahil, Terry and Ivanovic can play as center backs, but with Mourinho in we can’t be sure if he will let Ivanovic to continue his great form as a center half or mobing him back to a right back where he will fight for his place against Azpilicueta, in both cases Chelsea have to get someone in to bolster the defence position, as a center back there is Dede a strong Brazilian who plays for Brazilian side Cruzeiro, France U20 intrenational Kurt Zouma from Saint-Etienne and even Dragovic from Steaua Bucarest, if Ivanovic is to stay at central defence so Wallace just came back from loan at Fluminense and is set to make a Chelsea debut this season.

Midfield boosts: Paulinho, Marco Van Ginkel, Andre Gomes, top three young midfielders who are on the verge of signing at Chelsea although Paulinho is more likely to join Tottenham, Chelsea still on the race for young U21 Holland intrenational Van Ginkel from Vittese and Andre Gomes from Benfica, Wesley Sneijder is linked with reunite with former Inter Milan manger and Christian Eriksen from Ajax also has been a long-linked replacement for Frank Lampard.

Torres out, who comes in? Cavani is rumored to agree on personal terms with Chelsea but the Blues claimed that the buy-out clause is too big (65 milion pounds)  Chelsea are still keen to get another striker and Robert Lewandowski is on his way to the Bridge. Rooney is also linked after claiming his time at Old Trafford is coming to an end and Chelsea might find a way to grab Reus from Dortmund in the last minute.

Overall rumors: GK: Diego Lopez, Julio Cesar, John Ruddy, Alex McCarthy, Asmir Begovic.

DF: Kurt Zouma, Dede, Dragovic.

MF: Nemanja Matic, Paulinho, Andre Gomes, Marco Van Ginkel.

ATT: Bruma (U20 Portugal intrenational known as ‘Next CR’), Wayne Rooney, Robert Lewndowski, Edinson Cavani.
