Ange Postecoglou To Take Three Familiar Tottenham Hotspur Faces With Him to Nottingham Forest

Ange Postecoglou was named the new Nottingham Forest head coach this week and has wasted little time getting down to business.

The big Australian was handed the reins at the City Ground this week following the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo.

Nuno had claimed his relationship had changed with president Evangelos Marinakis over the summer and, despite his comments coming from an honest place, the chief did not take kindly and he was axed.

It was one of the earliest Premier League sackings and came just 25 days into the new campaign but the speed in which Postecoglou was named as his successor points towards a deal being done while Nuno was still in the door.

Still, Postecoglou is now the boss and will be looking to stamp his own authority on the Forest squad. That is despite not much having gone wrong under the former manager who guided the club into Europe last term.

Ange Postecoglou wants Montgomery, Reimundo and Jedinak as coaching staff

Ange has his own backroom staff to gather before the squad take on Arsenal in his first match in charge this weekend.

And it appears to be familiar faces that the 60-year-old will plump for having worked with a trio of names before.

Former Tottenham Hotspur coaches Nick Montgomery, Sergio Raimundo and Mile Jedinak are all reportedly ready to take their place behind Postecoglou in the dugout at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon.

Ange has worked with all three in his previous role having taken them to Spurs when he joined himself from Celtic in 2023.

Montgomery is a gaffer in his own right having previously worked at Central Coast Mariners and then Hibs where he actually faced off against Ange in the Scottish Premiership.

Reimundo did the same, also at Easter Road with Hibs, where he worked as Montgomery’s assistant before they were both relieved of their duties and replaced by David Gray.

Where Forest might finish in Premier League under Postecoglou

Jedinak is slightly different as he never worked against Postecoglou as a boss, but he did play under the Greek-born leader with the Australian national team.

Postecoglou was in charge of the Socceroos back between 2013 and 2017 and Jedinak was his captain for a period of that time.

Forest fans were emotional upon learning of Nuno’s sacking and they took to social media to vent their frustrations at seeing their boss leave the club.

They did seem to get behind their new manager – despite his 17th place Premier League finish before he was binned last season – after he won the Europa League.

Forest are now among the favourites for the drop.
