Saturday tea-time sees a massive fixture for both ends of the table at the Emirates Stadium. The early kick off at Upton park between West Ham and Manchester United could have massive implications going into the evening game and at this stage of the season the points are crucial.
The international break has been kind to the hosts who see the return of Captain Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott, Alex Song and Abou Diaby while Robin Van Perise and Nicklas Bendtner have shaken off knocks to be included in the squad. Aaron Ramsey will not be risked while the Gunners are still without three goalkeepers, Djourou, Vermaelen and Denilson.
Blackburn on the other hand are without the suspended Gael Givet and the injured Vince Grella who is out for the season. The Rovers are optimistic however that David Dunn can return from a hip injury for the trip to London.
The month of March has been unkind to both sides. Arsenal at once firing on all fronts now have all their eggs in the Premier League as they are 5 points behind Manchester United with a game in hand. Blackburn find themselves in a fascinating battle at the foot of the table that could see anyone relegated. Their hopes of a top 6 challenge under Steve Kean have floundered and their run in does not look great. Blackburn are in big trouble and will hope other results go their way before they kick off at the Emirates.
Arsenal’s recent record against Blackburn at home is formidable, winning their last seven league games. Robin Van Persie has a fine record against the Lancashire side and has scored 16 goals in 16 games for club and country this season.
I can’t look beyond Arsenal for this one and see a 4-1 victory for Arsene Wenger’s men as the Gunners get back to winning ways.
