Arsenal reach agreement with Brighton for Ben White

Arsenal have struck an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion for Ben White after seeing their first two bids rejected.

The Gunners had made the 23-year-old their top transfer target this summer, and they have now reached an agreement in principle for the talented defender.

The Gunners made an initial £40 million bid before following up with another offer of £45m plus add-ons but both were turned down.

The Seagulls were adamant they wanted £50m and their valuation has now been met, as per The Athletic.

White will become the most expensive defender in Arsenal’s history, surpassing the £36.9m spent to bring Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia in 2016.

White’s performances were impressive side last season, with the defender making 36 appearances to help his side avoid relegation.

He earned a late call-up to England’s squad for the European Championships after Trent Alexander-Arnold was ruled out from the tournament due to injury.

However, the young centre-back failed to make an appearance for the Three Lions at the tournament.
