Tomorrow, Rangers will travel to the Falkirk Stadium for their SPL encounter with Eddie May’s Falkirk in the weekend’s televised game on ESPN. Saturday kick-offs an important month for the SPL Champions as they have to face Dundee United, Hibs and Celtic, all away from home. The Bairns are bottom on 8 points, however a win would take them into 10th position.
The Gers are without Pedro Mendes and Jerome Rothen who are still sidelined, Maurice Edu and Kirk Broadfoot are almost back for Rangers, but this game will come to soon for the pair. Rangers will be looking for make amends for last weeks disappointing defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie. Walter Smith said “This is a big game for us as it kicks off a month where we have a lot of extremely tough matches. Falkirk had a massive turnover of staff in the summer but now they seem to be settling down. The 3-3 draw with Celtic would indicate that and we expect nothing other than a tough match. I’m hoping we get a really good reaction after last week’s defeat in Aberdeen.”
The Bairns can welcome back Kjartan Finbogasson back to the team, the former Celtic striker has recovered from a knee injury. Pedro Pele will make his first Falkirk start after his move to Scotland however prospective signing Toufik Zerara still awaits international clearance and won’t feature. “Rangers have been up against it on numerous occasions in the last few years. Eddie May added “Walter Smith’s got the best out of them and that’s why he’s the best manager in Scotland. We’ll need to be at our best. But if we get a result it’s because Falkirk are good enough and not because Rangers are poor. We can beat them if we have belief, move the ball quickly and work hard for each other.”
