Buddies make short trip to Ibrox

St Mirren will make the short journey to Ibrox from Paisley tomorrow afternoon, as they aim to be the first side to beat Rangers in domestic football this season. The SPL Champions currently sit 3rd in the SPL, behind Celtic & Hibs – who have both played an extra fixture after Rangers’ game last week was postponed at half-time against Dundee United. Gus McPherson’s St Mirren have punched well above their weight compared with previous seasons, the Buddies sit 6th in the SPL, 7 points behind Rangers.

After the 1-1 draw in Romania, Danny Wilson is set to retain his place in the Rangers starting line-up, with Madjid Bougherra back in full-training and is expected to be on the bench for tomorrow after a knee ligament injury. Striker Kyle Lafferty and Defender Steven Smith are both out of tomorrow’s game with food poisoning and join Maurice Edu, Pedro Mendes and Kirk Broadfoot on the sidelines. Gers talisman Kris Boyd is set to return to the starting line up after missing out in midweek despite some impressive recent performances.

The Saints are without Lee Mair who is suspended, however, Steven Thomson returns to the squad for the game at Ibrox. St Mirren also have a number of other injuries in their squad; Allan Johnston, Steven Robb, Craig Dargo, Tom Brighton, Chris Smith and Mo Camara are all out.

St Mirren Probable Team:

Referee: Iain Brines

We have been playing of late, especially against Hibs and the first 45 against Dundee United – but St Mirren are doing well this season and they have a few players capable of creating chances in Andy Dorman and Stephen McGinn. To be honest, its a game though I expect to win comfortably, no disrespect to St Mirren at all. I’m going 3-0 Rangers, Kris Boyd first goalscorer.
