Burnley vs Liverpool Betting Tips, Correct Score Prediction and Best Bet Builder Picks

Alexander Isak is set to make his Liverpool debut away at Burnley on Sunday and is the 18/5 favourite with multiple football betting sites to be the game’s first goalscorer, while he is 13/10 to score anytime.

However, it may be wise to avoid those two selections for now as Isak is likely only going to make a cameo appearance as a substitute at Turf Moor, rather than starting the game.

That is because Isak is still working his way up to full fitness following his British-record transfer from Newcastle on deadline day. Liverpool paid Newcastle £125 million for Isak, taking their overall summer spend to £446.5m in what was a record-breaking transfer window in the Premier League.

Isak did not have a proper pre-season with Newcastle after effectively going on strike, with his first minutes of the 2025-26 campaign coming on Monday night when he appeared as a second-half sub in Sweden’s 2-0 defeat by Kosovo.

Without Isak, Liverpool have made a perfect start to their Premier League title defence. The Reds — who have a 28.9% chance of ending this season as champions, according to a recent report — are the only top-flight team with a 100% record at this stage.

After beating Bournemouth, Newcastle and Arsenal, Arne Slot’s men can be backed at 1/3 to get another three points at Burnley. That looks a decent price, while the draw is 5/1 and Burnley are rated as 9/1 longshots.

With Isak expected to be on the bench, Hugo Ekitike will likely lead the line for Liverpool on Sunday. He has opened the scoring in two of his four starts for the Reds so far and is 21/5 to be the first goalscorer again.

Whether they come from Isak, Ekitike or anyone else, Liverpool should score goals at Turf Moor.

Burnley had the best defensive record in the Championship last season, but the Premier League is almost a completely different ball game. The Clarets have already conceded three goals in two of their first three matches back in the top-flight — losing 3-0 at Tottenham on the opening weekend, before going down 3-2 at Manchester United just before the international break.

Despite home advantage, this looks like Burnley’s toughest assignment yet, so the handicap markets should appeal to punters seeking value.

Liverpool are 19/20 to win by at least two goals. They are 9/4 to win by at least three and 5/1 to win by four or more. The first of those options appears to be the most attractively priced, although it would be no surprise if Liverpool won by three, four or even more.

Burnley vs Liverpool: Correct Score prediction

Liverpool have won each of their five games against Burnley, by scorelines of 3-1, 2-0, 1-0, 2-0 and 3-0.

But while Liverpool have kept four clean sheets in their last five clashes with the Clarets, Slot’s men have conceded at least two in three of their four matches in all competitions this season.

Therefore, we reckon Burnley might breach the Reds defence but we still fancy the visitors to be too strong at the other end.

Burnley vs Liverpool: Best Bet Builders

If you are looking for a Bet Builder that is plausible but with long odds, you can get 140/1 by backing draw at half time, Mo Salah to score anytime, Kyle Walker to be shown a card, Dominik Szoboszlai to make at least one tackle, both teams to score and 13 or more corners in the match.

A decent option at a much shorter price is 21/10 on Liverpool to win, Salah and Ekitike each to have at least one shot on target, over 2.5 total match goals and eight or more corners.

Burnley vs Liverpool team news

Burnley will be without long-term injury absentees Manuel Benson and Zeki Amdouni, while Jordan Beyer and Connor Roberts are doubtful.

For Liverpool, Jeremie Frimpong could return sooner than previously expected if he passes a late fitness test. Ibrahima Konate should be fit to play, despite limping off against Arsenal late last month. Isak is expected to make his Liverpool debut as a sub.
