On Wednesday evening England take on Czech Republic in a tie that will entice pundits, reporters and football fans for their first real opinion of Fabio Capello. Since taking the reign as England manager, Capello hasn’t been challenged but the Czechs should provide a stern test with some tough experienced proffesionals.

Manchester City keeper Joe Hart keeps his place in the squad after some marvellous form in pre season despite the debacle in Manchester with Shinawatra. Emile Heskey is included having missed out through injury in Capello’s first squad. Defoe is also included after bagging a brace in England’s last friendly. His current form for Portsmouth merited with a call up. Not so lucky is Peter Crouch who, despite a press release that believed he would be included, has missed out. Dean Ashton is ruled out due to injury in his first game for West Ham. As the call for pace was highlighted by Capello some fans are puzzled as to why Ashley Young was included despite his mercurial form for Aston Villa.

England manager Fabio Capello believes this will be the right test for England, “Czech Republic are a very good technical side, we will have to be on good form to win”
